Forth Dimension Displays celebrates the 25th year anniversary of Döhrer Elektrooptik GmbH
Dalgety Bay, Scotland. November 25, 2007
This November sees the 25th year of operations for one of Forth Dimension Displays' longest serving representatives, namely Döhrer Elektrooptik GmbH of Karlsbad, Germany.
"I am delighted to be able to celebrate the occasion of the 25th Anniversary of Döhrer Elektrooptik GmbH. Forth Dimension Displays (previously CRL/CRLO) has been working alongside Döhrer Elektrooptik for over half of that period generating profitable business for both businesses" said Greg Truman, CEO of Forth Dimension Displays Ltd.
Greg continued, "I recall that Döhrer Elektrooptik obtained the order for our first TDITM SXGA shipment to a customer. This was the beginning of the development of today's successful Forth Dimension Displays business. Herr Döhrer's enthusiasm for his country and his business knows no bounds and we all wish him and his company many happy returns for 25 years of outstanding business performance. Well done!"
"It was a long and fascinating travel through ages of display technology development alongside with ForthDD. Almost 20 years ago we started out with simple shutters and displays and now are involved in one of the most modern display technology, which is now known as Time Domain Imaging. We from DÖHRER Elektrooptik enjoy to work with the people from FDD and look forward into a bright and prosperous business future" said Eckhart Döhrer, General Manager of Döhrer Elektooptik GmbH.
To assist the growth of business in Germany, Forth Dimension Displays has recently dedicated an applications engineer to this market. Operating out of Berlin, they will support the numerous customers and prospects across the country.

About Doehrer Elektrooptik GmbH - www.doehrer.com
DÖHRER Elektrooptik GmbH - founded in November 1982 - serves in the German speaking part of Europe as a sales and representation company for optical components in application areas reaching from lasers through optical telecom applications to microdisplay technologies. Based near Karlsruhe in the German high tech area around Karlsruhe/Stuttgart, DEO is recognized as a leading supplier of modern optical technology by both optics users as well as manufacturing partners in the US, Europe and the Far East.
DEO has an outstanding - and already 20 years lasting - cooperation with Scottish technology company Forth Dimension Displays. ForthDD's Time Domain Imagers (F-LCoS in SXGA resolution) are core components for Head-Mounted-Displays, surgical microscopes, surface 3D measurements, camera viewfinders and confocal microscopes - all of those applications being outstanding and successful European technological achievements. DÖHRER Elektrooptik is proud to be part of those remarkable technology developments.
About Forth Dimension Displays - www.forthdd.com
Our Company
Forth Dimension Displays develops, manufactures and supplies the world's most advanced microdisplays using a proprietary, fast-switching liquid crystal technology.
The Company -- previously named CRLO Displays Ltd -- was formed in September 2004, funded by an "A" series round of $19 M from Amadeus Capital Partners and Doughty Hanson Technology Ventures.
We are located in Dalgety Bay, Scotland across the River Forth from Edinburgh.
In 2006, 82% of our rapidly-growing revenues were from products shipped overseas, mostly to North America and Asia. Our customer base is global. We may be technology-driven, but we are customer-obsessed.
Our technical team has proven experience in applications integration; product engineering (optics, microdisplays, drivers, liquid crystals) as well as manufacturing and QA.
Our Technology and its Benefits
Our proprietary, high-speed liquid crystal technology has major advantages in performance and cost.
Performance advantages: our technology is all digital. There are no RGB sub-pixels, no separate RGB beams, no tilting mirrors. We process images purely in the time domain – the 4th Dimension. And we do it on just one chip.
This combination allows both amplitude and phase modulated imaging. It provides high native resolution, full 24-bit colour for showing high-speed motion. Our technology is well-matched to the new LED and laser diode light sources.
Cost advantages: The single chip has no moving parts, so it is built using standard CMOS wafer processes. The absence of separate RGB light paths enables our customers to use simpler, lower cost optics in their system integration.
A portfolio of more than seventy patents protects our unique TDITM technology.
Applications, Market Segments and Products
Forth Dimension Displays has an established reputation as the leading supplier of premium, high native resolution microdisplays in training and simulation systems for military and aerospace customers. We continue to serve this segment with chip, driver and board-level products.
We are expanding our business to customers in emerging segments such as:
Electronic viewfinders for High Definition Video cameras
Confocal microscopy and image injection for medical diagnostic and surgical systems
Digital printing and imaging systems
High-resolution industrial metrology and process systems
Advanced 3D and holographic imaging systems
