Spatial Light Modulators (SLM)

When the FLCoS is used to structure light in amplitude modulation or phase modulation, it is called a spatial light modulator (SLM). Depending on the application, the appropriate interface can be video (for example in holography) or require pre-loaded images as required for structuring light synchronized with a camera (for example in stripe projection or super resolution fluorescence microscopy).

The all-digital nature of the FLCoS commands that greyscale information in amplitude mode is displayed time-sequentially and that phase modulation is a binary π phase shift.

For amplitude-modulation SLM the QXGA, SXGA or WXGA resolution is available as board level product.

For phase modulation we optimized the QXGA SLM.
