We’re in California and on our way to SID Displayweek 2015 in San Jose. For the first time anywhere, we will be showing our new QXGA resolution (2048 x 1536) Electronic Viewfinder (EVF) demonstrator. With no sub-pixels, no screen-door artefacts and a fill factor of more than 94%, the image quality is outstanding, The EVF will be on the Kopin/Forth Dimension Displays booth.
This week (2nd – 5th December 2013) Forth Dimension Displays are exhibiting in Orlando at I/ITSEC 2013 (The Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference).
For over 10 years, ForthDD has supplied full color, high resolution microdisplays for use in virtual training environments (WFOV HMDs) and in simulated military equipment (sights and periscopes).
Our booth (#459) will showcase a number of products including:
WFOV simulated monocular sight from Davin Optronics. Built around ForthDD’s new QXGA microdisplay, this unit has outstanding image quality.
Simulated Night Vision Goggles (NVGs) from Cybermind Interactive Nederland. Using ForthDD’s SXGA FLCOS microdisplays, these NVGs are designed for use by pilots in full motion simulators. The lightweight, helmet mounted binocular unit faithfully replicates the performance of real NVGs.
SID Display Week 2013 Forth Dimension Displays (ForthDD) will be exhibiting at the Vancouver Convention Centre in Vancouver, Canada between the 21st and 23rd May 2013. ForthDD are co-located with Kopin Corporation at booth number 1307.
On the booth will be:
– QXGA-R9 demonstration combining a 2048 x 1536 microdisplay with a compact drive PCB in a electronic viewfinder.
– Replicating RealityTM demonstration of full immersion in a virtual world using a First Person Shooter (FPS) game in a VR HMD.

Forth Dimension Displays (ForthDD) will be exhibiting at SID 2012 Display Week which is held this year in Boston, MA between the 5th and 7th of June 2012. ForthDD are co-located with Kopin Corporation at booth number 177.
Promoted again this year is ForthDD’s well established SXGA (1280 x 1024 pixels) liquid crystal on silicon microdisplay. With greater than 10 years proven supply into demanding, high fidelity applications including cinematography viewfinders and head mounted displays for military training and simulation, the SXGA has seen a recent update with an increase in fill factor to an industry leading 96%. This higher fill factor further reduces the visibility of pixel structure and increases light efficiency in near to eye and projection applications as well as reducing diffraction errors when illuminated with lasers which is often seen in spatial light modulator applications.
Further, as a result of work undertaken with the School of Engineering at Edinburgh University, ForthDD are proud to have supplied the aforementioned SXGA microdisplay which has enabled Professor Ian Underwood, Krzysztof Nguyen, et al to author a paper entitled “Time of Flight Based 3D Image Sensing Using Holographically Projected Structured Illumination”. This paper presented at SID 2012 will offer a new application of the SXGA microdisplay to provide structured illumination for a Time of Flight based 3D imaging system in order to improve optical signal to noise ratio and reduce optical cross-talk.
